LG VIDEO – WEEK 8

FULL SERMON – 43:51 MINUTES

ICE BREAKER:

  • How have you grown in faith or friendship this life group semester? Are there any lessons or insights you’ve gained?

SCRIPTURE:

2 Corinthians 9:6-15 NIV

Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. As it is written:

“They have freely scattered their gifts to the poor;
    their righteousness endures forever.”[a]

10 Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness. 11 You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.

12 This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of the Lord’s people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God. 13 Because of the service by which you have proved yourselves, others will praise God for the obedience that accompanies your confession of the gospel of Christ, and for your generosity in sharing with them and with everyone else. 14 And in their prayers for you their hearts will go out to you, because of the surpassing grace God has given you. 15 Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!

KEEP IT UNCOMPLICATED:

Observation Questions

  • What does it mean to give “cheerfully” rather than reluctantly?

  • What does Paul mean when he compares giving to sowing and reaping? How does this metaphor help us understand the principle of generosity?
  • What does God promise to do for those who give generously? How does this reveal God’s role in our giving?

Understanding Questions

  • Pastor Tom Hughes said, “We don’t just give to a need, we have a need to give.” What do you think this means?
  • Matthew 6:21 (NIV) says “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” What does this look like in daily life?

Application Questions

With Commitment Sunday coming up on April 13th, let’s take some time as a group to reflect on what it means to trust God with our finances and walk in obedience through the Tithe Challenge.

This is more than a moment — it’s a step of faith. As we prepare to make our pledges, let’s encourage one another to listen to God, follow His lead, and believe that He is faithful to provide.

  • What is God speaking to your heart in this season?
  • What does trusting Him in this area look like for you?

Let’s support each other, pray together, and step forward in unity — not out of pressure, but out of love and surrender.

Before Closing

  • Consider making the decision to be baptized! Baptisms are coming up on Thursday, March 27th and Sunday, March 30th.
  • Consider leading a new life group or apprenticing under your leader to grow in leadership for the upcoming semester, starting April 28th for 6 weeks!
