3 “LIE-ONS” of Compromise – 40 MINUTES
DISCUSSION:
- Share your notes from the teaching, what impacted you? Was there a moment you sensed the Holy Spirit?
SCRIPTURE
1 Peter 5:8 Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.
1 Cor. 10:13 The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure.
2 Cor. 10:5 We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ,
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.
Matthew 7:13 NLT 13 “You can enter God’s Kingdom only through the narrow gate. The highway to hell is broad, and its gate is wide for the many who choose that way. 14 But the gateway to life is very narrow and the road is difficult, and only a few ever find it.
UNcomplicate it:
Observation Questions:
1. Pastor Justice said “the temptation to compromise often sounds like a conversation between our mind and heart.”Is this true for you? Share an example of self-talk that has either helped you or hurt you.
2. The apostle Paul said, “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 6:23. What did he mean by the wages of sin is death?
3. Jesus said, “The highway to hell is broad, and its gate is wide for the many who choose that way. But the gateway to life is very narrow and the road is difficult, and only a few ever find it.” What did Jesus mean by this? Is this encouraging or discouraging? How can we heed His warning?
Application Question:
1. 2 Corinthians 10:5 We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ. What is the lie that the enemy seems to be putting in your head over and over again? What truth helps you to take captive and destroy that lie?
2. What is the lie you’ve believed that has led to compromise in the past and it will not lead to compromise again?
